The Hangzhou Philharmonic Orchestra recently revealed its latest music season for the year, local media reported on Aug 11.

The 2021-2022 Music Season will commence on Sept 26 and consists of 21 concerts as well as three chamber-music concerts.

Internationally renowned musicians, including violinists Pinchas Zuckerman and Leonidas Kavakos, conductors Antonio Mendez and Hannu Lintu, and clarinetist Sabine Meyer, will be invited to perform during the second half of the season.

Concerts in memory of master musicians have always been the highlight of the orchestra's annual music season.

To commemorate the 120th anniversary of the death of Giuseppe Verdi, a renowned Italian composer, the orchestra will present Requiem as the opening concert of the series. Concerts paying tribute to Mozart, Igor Stravinsky, Haydn, and Cesar Frank will also be held.

Founded in 2009, HPO has established itself as one of the most outstanding symphony orchestras in China and has a repertoire that spans opera, ballet, chamber music and film music.
