China and me, five years from now

As we know 2021 is the first year of the implementation of 14th Five-Year Plan goals for that I want to share about my five-year plan and the moments while living in China which are immortalized through the photo below.

"Seek knowledge as far as China" is a proverb that I often heard when I was a child, we know that education in China began thousands of years ago, with education it can improve the standard of human life. First of all, because of my current profession as a teacher, I will start by stating my five-year plan starting from the field of education. I heard there are many studies on the rise of Asia, one of which is through China, which will become the first superpower country based on GDP in 2050 according to IMF data, which means that in the future to support the economy, human resources are needed, especially in the field of language acquisition, because language is the world's gateway to success in all fields. Mandarin will become an international language, that's why I'm here. I will try to make this dream come true together. I try to continue to spread Chinese culture especially to people in Indonesia. Not only in Indonesia, but I will also support Indonesian students to continue their studies in China, currently there are around 15 thousand Indonesian students studying in the bamboo curtain country, and it is hoped that this number will continue to increase. When I returned to Indonesia in 2011 and started my career as a lecturer at a private university in Jakarta, for about seven years I have been teaching Mandarin to hundreds of students in Indonesia. Students from Indonesia, both Chinese and non-Chinese, are very enthusiastic about learning Mandarin and Chinese culture, and also because nowadays more and more Chinese companies are investing in Indonesia, the need for human resources who are skilled in Mandarin has increased dramatically, making Mandarin language education very attractive to students in Indonesia. In addition, with the signing of the MoU of cooperation between GMF (Global Maritime Fulcrum) Indonesia and BRI (Belt and Road Initiatives) China in 2018, the relationship between the two countries between Indonesia and China is getting closer so I have high hopes that these two countries will establish mutually beneficial cooperation in the future. And students in Indonesia through Mandarin language education can be a bridge that connects the friendship between China and Indonesia, both in the educational and socio-cultural fields as well as in the economic field. So it is hoped that the Indonesian economy through the 100-year independence program in 2045 and the Chinese economy can continue to improve and of course will drive the global economy in the future.

Quoted from a book entitled "Indonesia" written by Professor Xu Liping, he stated that Indonesia's GDP in 2030 is estimated to be the 4th largest in the world, after China, India, and America, so that in the future there will also be a lot of cooperation between Indonesia and China. while currently from 16 universities in China that open Indonesian language courses, there are about a thousand Chinese students studying the language, of course this number is still very minimal when compared to the need for skilled Indonesian-speaking human resources needed in the future. So I also feel called to teach Indonesian to Chinese students, so far I have introduced Indonesian to approximately one hundred Chinese students for a year and a half and will continue in the future. I hope that the Chinese government will continue to support language education, especially Indonesian language for Chinese students. Currently I am an Indonesian language teacher at Hainan University, I am very happy to be able to share knowledge with students in China, as well as feel proud when I see students in China are skilled at speaking Indonesian and begin to understand Indonesian culture, because this is how they too which will bridge the relationship between China and Indonesia in the future, I hope that what I share with students can be a provision in the world of work when the time comes.

In addition to education, of course, I am also very supportive of the Chinese government's program, especially in the field of environmental conservation. I am very happy when I can participate in environmental conservation, starting from small things in everyday life, for example, sorting plastic waste, a lot of household waste in the form of plastic that can be recycled into something useful such as paving bricks that can be used for building materials, as well as other works. Another step, of course, is to reduce the use of plastic bags, because we are faced with an emergency of global warming, we are responsible for the environment and our earth, everyone has their own role in preserving the environment, including me.

I am also happy with the creation of electric vehicles, which can reduce environmental pollution, as well as other renewable energy such as solar power plants, because we only have one earth, and what nature has given to humans is truly extraordinary, so it is appropriate for me and my friends — friends participate in preserving our nature.

The year 2008 became one of the historic years for China because this year China hosted the 2008 Beijing Olympics, at that time there were many participants from various countries in the world who came to Beijing, in the same year it was also an important year in history of my life,because this is the first time I set foot in China. I still remember very well when queuing to get off the plane, the song "Beijing welcomes you" was played, and at that moment I suddenly realized that I was really in China. And this is an unforgettable memory. I really like the motto "one world one dream", and was so impressed with the scenery I saw when I visited the great wall that time so I captured the moment through the photo above. Hopefully this "journey of harmony" theme can also always be a fire of enthusiasm for 14th five-year plan goals China and the whole world. Thank you "Beijing welcomes you".

This second photo is a photo of me and my college friends from Korea, Mongolia, Indonesia and Ukraine. We sat together in college to learn Chinese language and culture, there are many memories when we were studying at our campus, the ups and downs we went through together. And on one occasion we got the trust to present a Chinese opera show on behalf of the campus and broadcast it live on Hebei TV. My partner and I (pictured right) featured "Dream of Red Mansions" Sister Lin fell from the sky， From here we learned about one of Chinese culture, namely Chinese opera, I hope five years from now I can have the opportunity to learn more about Chinese culture and share stories with people around. Thank you!

The next photo is when I graduated from a master degree from Hebei normal university in 2011. It doesn't feel like two years have passed and it's time for graduation. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Chinese government and Hanban for providing scholarships to me and my friends. After graduating we went back to our respective countries and began to spread knowledge about Mandarin to students in our country. And now, for the next five years, I will certainly try my best to continue to spread Chinese culture to the people around me, hopefully what I share can be useful.

This is a photo of me and my students when we were in Indonesia. Although this photo was not taken in China, I am still happy because these two students managed to represent Indonesia in the Chinese bridge competition in China. This is one proof of the enthusiasm of students in Indonesia in learning Mandarin. Hopefully in the future there will be more students who continue to spread Chinese culture and Mandarin.

This photo was taken in 2017 at a winter camp event organized by qiao ban in Harbin, at that time I had the opportunity to bring dozens of students from several cities in Indonesia. This winter camp lasted for about two weeks, here not only students from Indonesia but from various countries also attended, many activities were carried out related to Chinese culture, one of which was making *jiaozi*, we were assisted by several local teachers managed to make *jiaozi* and decorated it to form the words "ji xiang ru yi", hopefully five years from now we are both "ji xiang ru yi".

This photo is me in 2016 while attending the canton fair in Guangzhou. At that time I accompanied my brother to visit the canton fair as a translator, here I learned a lot about the B2B B2C business and products from China, and started to do a small business by opening an online shop in Indonesia, I hope in the next five years I will go through China can grow my business.

I took this photo when I visited the Shanghai Expo in 2010, There were many pavilions from various countries that enlivened, one of which was the Indonesian pavilion, when I visited my friends and I were very happy to see Indonesian products introduced to visitors. starting to sell products from various countries, as well as Chinese products which are marketed to various countries in the world, I hope this import-export activity will continue and the economy of each country will certainly get better.

This next photo is me when I take my family on vacation to China, this scene is on a boat when I want to cross to Qiandaohu Island. Through this photo I want to convey my support for the cooperation of BRI China and other countries traversed by the Silk Road, I hope this program will be successful in the future. And friendship between countries can run smoothly and be more closely interwoven.

I took this photo when I was on vacation at Ocean Park Hong Kong, through this photo I want to convey about environmental care and nature conservation. We each have a role to play in protecting our nature, and I myself started with small things such as reducing plastic waste and saving electricity, etc., hopefully with electric vehicles and renewable energy, we can protect our nature from global warming.

The last photo I want to share here is a photo from 2019 before the pandemic came, this is me and the students at Hainan University in Indonesian class. I am very happy with my current job, I hope I can continue to hone my skills and share knowledge with students in China. I hope that they will become the nation's next generation and bridge the relationship between China and other countries, including Indonesia. Hopefully not only in the field of education but also in the field of AI technology will continue to develop in the future, thank you!

Allow me to take this opportunity to introduce myself first, I am a Chinese Indonesian, born and raised in Indonesia, my family and I live on the island of Sumatra, Jambi city, since childhood I have been taught by my father Chinese culture, such as the proverb that says "Drinking the water of a well, one should never forget who dug it." Although I was born and raised in Indonesia, I am also of Chinese descent. I majored in Chinese at Maranatha Christian University, Bandung, and continued my study in China at Hebei Normal University, that's when my dream came true, which was to be able to return to the land of my ancestors, China. After graduating from Bachelor's degree I got a master's scholarship from Hanban, majoring in Master of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages, in China I learned a lot not only science but also the value of life. I returned to Indonesia in 2011 and started my career as a lecturer at a private university in Jakarta, for approximately seven years I taught Mandarin to hundreds of students in Indonesia. In 2016 I started teaching Indonesian to workers in Chinese companies, such as: Oppo Indonesia, Huawei, Konka, Green, coal companies etc. In addition to teaching Mandarin, I also teach Indonesian and become an interpreter, this is what finally brought me back to China. I am currently teaching Indonesian at Hainan University, I really love my job, both as a teacher and as an interpreter, I have great hopes for the two countries I love, Indonesia and China, to continue to move forward hand in hand, and I am willing to be a bridge for cooperation between China and Indonesia now and in the future.
