Aug 4: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Aug 3, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 96 new cases of confirmed infections (25 imported cases, 7 in Yunnan province, 4 in Fujian province, 3 in Jiangsu province, 2 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Zhejiang province, 2 in Guangdong province, 1 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Shanxi province, 1 in Liaoning province, 1 in Henan province and 1 in Sichuan province; 71 indigenous cases, 35 in Jiangsu, 15 in Hunan province, 9 in Hubei province, 6 in Shandong province, 3 in Yunnan, 2 in Henan and 1 in Fujian), 2 new cases of suspected infections (both were imported cases in Shanghai), and no deaths. 13 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 1,244 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 3.

As of 24:00 on Aug 3, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 7,529 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 6,816 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 713 confirmed cases (including 12 cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Aug 3, the National Health Commission had received reports of 93,289 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 87,413 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,240 confirmed cases (including 21 cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases. 1,107,456 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 35,486 were still under medical observation.

On Aug 3, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 27 new asymptomatic cases (12 imported cases; 15 indigenous cases, 9 in Henan, 3 in Hubei and 3 in Hunan). 22 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and 20 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 6 imported cases). As of 24:00 on Aug 3, 485 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 367 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Aug 3, 27,778 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 11,994 in Hong Kong (212 had died and 11,719 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 63 in Macao (54 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 15,721 in Taiwan (791 had died and 12,929 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
