Wild snow leopards were recently spotted in the Baxoila Ridge in Nyingchi city, Tibet autonomous region, according to a scientific expedition by the Kunming Institute of Zoology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
It confirms that Baxoila Ridge is one of the habitats of the snow leopard, a top predator.
The infrared camera footage also revealed a great number of cloven-hoofed animals, including bharals and Chinese serows, in the area.
The research group will keep investigating the wild animal system in the Yarlung Zangbo Canyon and Baxoila Ridge, and will continue to provide more information and services to biodiversity protection and the construction of ecological security barriers in the region.
