July 18: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On July 17, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 33 new cases of confirmed infections (32 imported cases, 11 in Yunnan province, 4 in Beijing municipality, 4 in Fujian province, 4 in Guangdong province, 3 in Sichuan province, 2 in Shaanxi province, 1 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 1 in Shanghai municipality, 1 in Jiangsu province and 1 in Hubei province; 1 indigenous case in Yunnan), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 22 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 249 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.

As of 24:00 on July 17, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 6,984 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 6,505 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 479 confirmed cases (including 9 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on July 17, the National Health Commission had received reports of 92,246 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 87,061 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 549 confirmed cases (including 12 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 1,069,428 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 7,405 were still under medical observation.

On July 17, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 27 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 18 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and 4 (imported cases) became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on July 17, 449 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 444 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on July 17, 27,401 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 11,956 in Hong Kong (212 had died and 11,682 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 55 in Macao (53 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 15,390 in Taiwan (764 had died and 12,207 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
