July 9: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On July 8, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 23 new cases of confirmed infections (15 imported cases, 9 in Yunnan province, 3 in Shanghai municipality and 3 in Guangdong province; 8 indigenous cases in Yunnan), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 19 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 1,173 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 1.

As of 24:00 on July 8, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 6,766 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 6,352 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 414 confirmed cases (including 4 cases in serious condition) and 3 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on July 8, the National Health Commission had received reports of 91,989 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 86,902 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 451 confirmed cases (including 4 cases in serious condition) and 3 suspected cases. 1,065,135 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 7,977 were still under medical observation.

On July 8, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 22 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 10 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and no asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on July 8, 482 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 476 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on July 8, 27,152 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 11,948 in Hong Kong (212 had died and 11,648 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 55 in Macao (53 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 15,149 in Taiwan (718 had died and 11,456 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
