The press corps COP15 “Secret Realm in Western Yunnan • Biodiversity of Yunnan” recently visited the habitat of the Phayre's langur (or Phayre's leaf monkey) in Mangshi, Dehong Dai and Jingpo autonomous prefecture in Yunnan province on July 4. It is the animal’s largest habitat in China.

Zheng Shanhe, an ecological photographer, spotted more than 300 Phayre's langurs (one of the Wild Animals under First-Grade State Protection) there on Jan 2018. In May of the same year, the Kunming Animal and Plants Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences reported that there were around 320 Phayre's langurs in five groups living there, which is the largest population discovered in a single region in China.
