July 7: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On July 6, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 57 new cases of confirmed infections (42 imported cases, 25 in Hubei province, 5 in Guangdong province, 4 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Tianjin municipality, 2 in Shaanxi province, 1 in Jiangsu province, 1 in Fujian province, 1 in Henan province and 1 in Sichuan province; 15 indigenous cases in Yunnan province), 4 new cases of suspected infections (all were imported cases in Shanghai), and no deaths. 17 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 742 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.

As of 24:00 on July 6, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 6,736 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 6,313 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 423 confirmed cases (including 5 cases in serious condition) and 5 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on July 6, the National Health Commission had received reports of 91,949 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 86,855 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 458 confirmed cases (including 5 cases in serious condition) and 5 suspected cases. 1,063,276 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 8,097 were still under medical observation.

On July 6, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 41 new asymptomatic cases (39 imported cases; 2 indigenous cases in Yunnan). 13 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and 3 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 1 imported case). As of 24:00 on July 6, 471 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 463 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on July 6, 27,087 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 11,944 in Hong Kong (212 had died and 11,642 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 55 in Macao (52 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 15,088 in Taiwan (706 had died and 11,180 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
