July 6: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On July 5, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 23 new cases of confirmed infections (20 imported cases, 8 in Yunnan province, 4 in Shanghai municipality, 3 in Guangdong province, 3 in Chongqing municipality, 1 in Liaoning province and 1 in Fujian province; 3 indigenous cases in Yunnan), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 34 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 806 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 1.

As of 24:00 on July 5, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 6,694 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 6,298 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 396 confirmed cases (including 5 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case.

As of 24:00 on July 5, the National Health Commission had received reports of 91,892 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 86,838 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 418 confirmed cases (including 5 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case. 1,062,534 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 8,099 were still under medical observation.

On July 5, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 25 new asymptomatic cases (23 imported cases; 2 indigenous cases in Yunnan). 22 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and no asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on July 5, 446 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 438 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on July 5, 27,059 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 11,943 in Hong Kong (212 had died and 11,638 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 55 in Macao (51 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 15,061 in Taiwan (689 had died and 11,008 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
