July 5: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On July 4, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 22 new cases of confirmed infections (19 imported cases, 6 in Shanghai municipality, 5 in Guangdong province, 5 in Yunnan province, 2 in Sichuan province and 1 in Shaanxi province; 3 indigenous cases in Yunnan), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 21 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 431 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 2.

As of 24:00 on July 4, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 6,674 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 6,281 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 393 confirmed cases (including 6 cases in serious condition) and 3 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on July 4, the National Health Commission had received reports of 91,869 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 86,804 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 429 confirmed cases (including 6 cases in serious condition) and 3 suspected cases. 1,061,862 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 8,234 were still under medical observation.

On July 4, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 14 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 21 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and 2 (imported cases) became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on July 4, 443 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 437 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on July 4, 27,027 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 11,942 in Hong Kong (211 had died and 11,637 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 55 in Macao (51 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 15,030 in Taiwan (688 had died and 10,868 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
