July 4: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On July 3, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 14 new cases of confirmed infections (all were imported cases, 4 in Yunnan province, 3 in Guangdong province, 2 in Fujian province, 1 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Liaoning province, 1 in Shanghai municipality, 1 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and 1 in Sichuan province), 3 new cases of suspected infections (all were imported cases in Shanghai), and no deaths. 17 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 3,981 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.

As of 24:00 on July 3, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 6,655 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 6,261 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 394 confirmed cases (including 8 cases in serious condition) and 3 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on July 3, the National Health Commission had received reports of 91,847 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 86,783 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 428 confirmed cases (including 8 cases in serious condition) and 3 suspected cases. 1,061,552 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 8,356 were still under medical observation.

On July 3, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 18 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 27 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and 2 (imported cases) became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on July 3, 452 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 446 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on July 3, 26,985 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 11,939 in Hong Kong (211 had died and 11,634 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 55 in Macao (51 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 14,991 in Taiwan (686 had died and 10,551 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
