July 3: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On July 2, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 23 new cases of confirmed infections (all were imported cases, 6 in Sichuan province, 4 in Shanghai municipality, 4 in Hunan province, 4 in Yunnan province, 3 in Guangdong province, 1 in Fujian province and 1 in Shaanxi province), 7 new cases of suspected infections (all were imported cases in Shanghai), and no deaths. 28 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 394 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.
As of 24:00 on July 2, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 6,641 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 6,248 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 393 confirmed cases (including 8 cases in serious condition) and 7 suspected cases.
As of 24:00 on July 2, the National Health Commission had received reports of 91,833 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 86,766 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 431 confirmed cases (including 8 cases in serious condition) and 7 suspected cases. 1,061,312 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 12,098 were still under medical observation.
On July 2, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 19 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 22 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 21 imported cases) and 8 (imported cases) became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on July 2, 463 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 457 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on July 2, 26,903 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 11,938 in Hong Kong (211 had died and 11,633 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 54 in Macao (51 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 14,911 in Taiwan (676 had died and 10,347 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
