The National Museum of Classic Books in Beijing recently launched an exhibition on The Yongle Encyclopedia, an ambitious 15th-century compilation of Chinese classics.
It showcases the rich knowledge system, ideas, humanistic spirit and moral norms of this largely-lost Chinese encyclopedia, which was commissioned by the Yongle Emperor of the Ming Dynasty in 1403 and completed by 1408.
