June 16: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On June 15, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 21 new cases of confirmed infections (all were imported cases, 15 in Guangdong province, 3 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Jiangsu province and 1 in Sichuan province), 3 new cases of suspected infections (all were imported cases, 2 in Fujian province and 1 in Shanghai), and no deaths. 17 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 1,047 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.
As of 24:00 on June 15, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 6,314 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 5,977 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 337 confirmed cases (including 3 cases in serious condition) and 3 suspected cases.
As of 24:00 on June 15, the National Health Commission had received reports of 91,492 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 86,369 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 487 confirmed cases (including 14 cases in serious condition) and 3 suspected cases. 1,042,993 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 14,814 were still under medical observation.
On June 15, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 36 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 17 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and 2 (imported cases) became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on June 15, 421 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 399 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on June 15, 25,173 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 11,880 in Hong Kong (210 had died and 11,600 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 52 in Macao (51 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 13,241 in Taiwan (460 had died and 1,133 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
