Jilin in Northeast China is to further promote its tourism sector during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), according to local media reports.

The province has just reported a rebound in its tourism sector, with tourism revenue during the recent five-day holiday hitting 8.46 billion yuan ($1.32 billion), a year-on-year growth of 106.34 percent.

Tourists made a total of 7.95 million visits to the province from May 1-5, up 79.31 percent.

In recent years, Jingyu county in the province has collected physical objects, photographs and military equipment of the Northeast United Resistance Army, and has investigated and registered 156 related ruins. This has provided a solid foundation for the development of red tourism there.

The province has integrated its red resources. At present, it has 269 revolutionary sites, 541 martyrs' memorial facilities, 28 revolutionary memorials (museums), and 322 patriotic education bases.

With a focus on its red scenic spots, Jilin has launched three red tourism routes, allowing tourists to understand the historical background and folk customs of Jilin while enjoying the magnificent natural scenery.

Jilin is blessed with unique ice and snow resources. In recent years, Jilin has sought to highlight the development of its ice and snow economy, and the entire related industrial chain including ice and snow tourism, sports, culture, and equipment.
