The Yinxu Site is believed to be the first ancient capital city site that has a recorded history in China. The belief is based on oracle bone inscriptions (currently identified as the earliest mature Chinese characters) as well as related archeological research. Acclaimed as the “second ancient Egypt” and inscribed as a world heritage, it is famed for grand and well-established palaces and imperial tombs of the Shang Dynasty (c.16th century-11th century BC) as well as bronze wares which were beautifully produced, delicately decorated and widely used. Covering an area of more than 36 square kilometers, the site also features the greatest number of oracle bone inscriptions discovered so far in the world, and a series of unparalleled cultural relics including wares of bone, jade and earth.

The park employs multiple methods to preserve and exhibit the underground ruins and cultural relics. Meanwhile, the Yinxu Museum showcases a great number of moveable unearthed cultural relics, enriching the knowledge of all visitors to the site.
