June 6: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On June 5, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 30 new cases of confirmed infections (23 imported cases, 7 in Shanghai municipality, 6 in Sichuan province, 2 in Guangdong province, 2 in Yunnan province, 1 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Jiangsu province, 1 in Zhejiang province, 1 in Fujian province and 1 in Shaanxi province; 7 indigenous cases in Guangdong), 2 new cases of suspected infections (both were imported cases in Shanghai), and no deaths. 23 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 789 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases increased by 1.

As of 24:00 on June 5, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 6,137 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 5,840 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 297 confirmed cases (including 1 case in serious condition) and 4 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on June 5, the National Health Commission had received reports of 91,248 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 86,220 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 392 confirmed cases (including 10 cases in serious condition) and 4 suspected cases. 1,029,442 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 8,303 were still under medical observation.

On June 5, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 18 new asymptomatic cases (15 imported cases; 3 indigenous cases in Guangdong). 16 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and 8 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 7 imported cases). As of 24:00 on June 5, 374 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 341 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on June 5, 22,858 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 11,851 in Hong Kong (210 had died and 11,584 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 51 in Macao (50 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 10,956 in Taiwan (224 had died and 1,133 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
