The year 2018 saw steady economic development in Ningbo, a major coastal city in Zhejiang province. Breakthroughs were made in various areas and the tasks set at the Third Session of the 15th National People's Congress were fairly accomplished.
Ningbo achieved a regional GDP of 1.07 trillion yuan ($159.58 billion), a year-on-year growth of 7 percent. It became one of the few cities in China with total economic output exceeding 1 trillion yuan.
The total fiscal revenue reached 265.53 billion yuan, up by 9.9 percent year-on-year, while the general public budget income was 137.97 billion yuan, an increase of 10.8 percent year-on-year.
The added value of the service industry increased by 8.1 percent, the transport industry by 9.5 percent and the for-profit service industry by 16.9 percent. The import and export volume of cross-border e-commerce reached 109.37 billion yuan, an increase of 77 percent.
The cargo throughput of Ningbo Zhoushan Port has ranked first in the world for 10 consecutive years. With annual container throughput exceeding 26.351 million TEUs and an airport passenger throughput of 10 million, Ningbo gained more comprehensive strength and international competitiveness in the past year.
Ningbo governs six districts, two counties, and two county-level cities — Haishu district, Jiangbei district, Zhenhai district, Beilun district, Yinzhou district, Fenghua district, Ninghai county, Xiangshan county, Yuyao city, and Cixi city.
