May 27: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On May 26, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 19 new cases of confirmed infections (17 imported cases, 12 in Guangdong province, 1 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 1 in Shanghai municipality, 1 in Fujian province and 1 in Sichuan province; 2 indigenous cases in Guangdong), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 12 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 287 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases increased by 1.
As of 24:00 on May 26, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 6,012 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 5,715 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 297 confirmed cases (including 3 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case.
As of 24:00 on May 26, the National Health Commission had received reports of 91,038 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 86,075 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 327 confirmed cases (including 3 cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases. 1,022,360 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 7,570 were still under medical observation.
On May 26, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 22 new asymptomatic cases (18 imported cases; 4 indigenous cases in Guangdong). 11 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 9 imported cases) and 1 (imported case) became a confirmed case. As of 24:00 on May 26, 392 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 363 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on May 26, 17,978 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 11,836 in Hong Kong (210 had died and 11,561 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 51 in Macao (49 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 6,091 in Taiwan (46 had died and 1,133 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
