May 7: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On May 6, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 13 new cases of confirmed infections (all were imported cases, 5 in Shanghai municipality, 5 in Guangdong province, 2 in Fujian province and 1 in Shaanxi province), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 19 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 295 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.

As of 24:00 on May 6, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 5,741 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 5,462 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 279 confirmed cases (including 3 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case.

As of 24:00 on May 6, the National Health Commission had received reports of 90,739 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 85,795 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 308 confirmed cases (including 3 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case. 1,010,192 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 5,578 were still under medical observation.

On May 6, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 17 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 11 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and no asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on May 6, 318 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 311 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on May 6, 13,020 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 11,798 in Hong Kong (210 had died and 11,468 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 49 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 1,173 in Taiwan (12 had died and 1,075 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
