May 3: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On May 2, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 11 new cases of confirmed infections (all were imported cases, 5 in Shanghai municipality, 4 in Guangdong province, 1 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region and 1 in Sichuan province), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 13 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 275 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases increased by 1.

As of 24:00 on May 2, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 5,699 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 5,412 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 287 confirmed cases (including 5 cases in serious condition) and 11 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on May 2, the National Health Commission had received reports of 90,697 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 85,738 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 323 confirmed cases (including 5 cases in serious condition) and 11 suspected cases. 1,008,891 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 6,684 were still under medical observation.

On May 2, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 12 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 5 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and no asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on May 2, 326 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 317 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on May 2, 12,970 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 11,784 in Hong Kong (210 had died and 11,445 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 49 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 1,137 in Taiwan (12 had died and 1,055 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
