BAIC ORV wins top labor accolade

Chinese carmaker BAIC ORV won the May 1 Labor Award from the All-China Federation of Trade Union on April 27.

The award is one of the top accolades from the federation for companies. There were merely 397 organizations that won the award this year.

The accolade testifies to the carmaker's competitive edge in the automotive market.

It has specialized in SUVs and off-roaders for six decades, and its expertise has driven the carmaker's quality development.

BAIC ORV said it has a research and development team of around 1,000 staff members.

It won first prizes of automotive science and technology for its BJ40 and BJ80 models as well in 2017 and 2018.

The carmaker has a big lineup of off-roaders, including different variants of the BJ40.

Its models including the BJ212 have played their roles on major state occasions.

Its BJ212 appear frequently in China's military parades.

The BJ80 undertook its mission in Mount Qomolangma's exploration and Mars probe-related tasks.

The BJ40 was chosen as the official vehicle of China's lunar exploration project.
