Opened to the public in 2018, the Chunshu Library is a medium-sized library tucked away in a hutong ally in downtown Beijing. The building, a quadrangle dwelling, is the former residence of famous Chinese journalist Lin Baishui (1874-1926). The residence was rated as a foremost protected cultural heritage site in Xicheng district in 1990.
Why worth visiting
After a major renovation, this building exudes quaint charms and provides a quiet and pleasant reading atmosphere with interior decoration in traditional Chinese style. It can accommodate up to 100 readers at the same time.
The library is open to both adults and minors. Boasting a founding collection of 15,000 books, it also purchases new books on a regular basis to ensure its holdings keep pace with the general book market.
The library is also planning multiple services, including those of books borrowing, selling, and food and drinks.
