Nissan's premium arm Infiniti is to produce in China its QX60 crossover, as a sign of its commitment to the world's largest vehicle market.

Local production of the three-row luxury crossover is a significant investment by Infiniti into one of its cornerstone markets and the all-new QX60 will be tailored to cater to local tastes, said the carmaker.

"Our commitment to China has never been greater and bringing the next-generation Infinit QX60 to market here shows our resolve to deliver to consumers and retailers our most exciting vehicles," said Infiniti Chairman Peyman Kargar.

Infiniti China Managing Director Kevin Mao said the QX60 and the QX55, another model shown at the Shanghai auto show, will come to retailers in 2022.

China is Infiniti's second largest market, after the United States. Infiniti started to produce vehicles in China in late 2014.

Besides the forthcoming QX60, it is producing the long-wheelbase Q50 sedan and the QX50 crossover in the country.
