Opened to the public in 2019 and covering about 1,300 square meters, the Parent-child Reading Space of the Wangfujing Bookstore boasts nearly 20,000 types of books, including books on preschool education and popular science as well as story and picture books.

Why it’s special
The Parent-child Reading Space is an area in which parents and children can read books and communicate as they share the delights of reading. The space uses appealingly shaped bookshelves, ornaments, and lighting effects to draw little readers’ attention and help them explore the sea of books. Animal-shaped chairs also offer children a quiet and stimulating reading experience.

It is worth mentioning that the Parent-child Reading Space organizes cultural salons and parent-child activities to further enhance readers’ sense of engagement and improve its reading services. The library has opened a special area for children’s picture books and built a small stage where it holds various reading events, such as lectures on picture books, shared reading sessions, and parent-child reading activities.
