April 24: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On April 23, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 9 new cases of confirmed infections (all were imported cases, 3 in Shanghai municipality, 1 in Jiangsu province, 1 in Guangdong province, 1 in Chongqing municipality, 1 in Sichuan province, 1 in Yunnan province and 1 in Shaanxi province), 3 new cases of suspected infections (all were imported cases in Shanghai), and no deaths. 10 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 1,102 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 1.
As of 24:00 on April 23, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 5,577 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 5,320 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 257 confirmed cases (including 4 cases in serious condition) and 5 suspected cases.
As of 24:00 on April 23, the National Health Commission had received reports of 90,575 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 85,634 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 305 confirmed cases (including 4 cases in serious condition) and 5 suspected cases. 1,005,152 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 10,022 were still under medical observation.
On April 23, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 12 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 10 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 9 imported cases) and 2 (imported cases) became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on April 23, 324 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 313 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on April 23, 12,866 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 11,727 in Hong Kong (209 had died and 11,325 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 49 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 1,090 in Taiwan (11 had died and 1,044 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
