April 23: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On April 22, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 19 new cases of confirmed infections (all were imported cases, 5 in Shanghai municipality, 5 in Guangdong province, 3 in Yunnan province, 2 in Zhejiang province, 2 in Chongqing municipality and 2 in Sichuan province), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 16 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 619 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.
As of 24:00 on April 22, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 5,568 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 5,314 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 254 confirmed cases (including 5 cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases.
As of 24:00 on April 22, the National Health Commission had received reports of 90,566 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 85,624 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 306 confirmed cases (including 5 cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases. 1,004,821 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 10,793 were still under medical observation.
On April 22, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 24 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 7 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 6 imported cases) and 3 (imported cases) became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on April 22, 324 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 312 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on April 22, 12,853 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 11,718 in Hong Kong (209 had died and 11,316 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 49 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 1,086 in Taiwan (11 had died and 1,041 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
