SAIC Maxus unveiled its MIFA concept on Monday at the Shanghai auto show that will run to April 28.

The MPV concept, built on the carmaker's smart architecture MIFA, has a body design inspired by a spacecraft.

It features a smart cabin, advanced autonomous driving functions as well as latest electrification solutions.

The model has a maximum output of 500 kW and a top torque of 900 Nm. It accelerates from zero to 100 km/hour in 3.8 seconds.

SAIC Maxus said it will feature the latest battery technology, which will enable a driving range of 800 km on one charge.

In terms of smart functions, it has the capability to park itself while the driver gets off the vehicle.

SAIC Maxus also presented its lineup of pickups, recreational vehicles and SUVs at the event.

The carmaker sold 35,831 vehicles in the first quarter of the year, up 131 percent from the same period last year.
