The 2021 Jilin Longwan Wild Azalea Tourism Festival is set to be staged at the Longwanqun National Forest Park in Northeast China's Jilin province on May 1-31, according to a news conference held on April 20.
With the arrival of spring, flowering azaleas are expected to light up the region and become a highlight of the local scenery.
That's because azaleas are often one of the first plants to bloom in the spring and early summer, when other flowers are just starting to wake up from the winter.
In May, enthusiasts there will start to see spectacular clusters of bell-shaped flowers in white, pink, red and yellow.
The Longwanqun National Forest Park – located in Huinan county, administered by Tonghua city in Jilin – is a national 4A-level eco-tourism scenic spot that offers recreation, forests, wetlands, scientific research and red tourism. It covers an area of 8,102 hectares.
Relying on the dependable arrival of the park's wonderful wild azaleas, the Jilin Longwan Wild Azalea Tourism Festival has been staged 13 times now, after its debut in 2006.
The park will offer various ticket discounts during the event, including free admission for national-level model workers from Jilin and a 50 percent discount for tour groups organized by travel agencies and other red tourism groups.
In addition, Huinan county will issue tourism spending vouchers worth a total of 200,000 yuan ($30,800).
