April 16: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On April 15, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 11 new cases of confirmed infections (10 imported cases, 3 in Shanghai municipality, 3 in Shandong province, 2 in Guangdong province, 1 in Fujian province and 1 in Shaanxi province; 1 indigenous case in Yunnan province), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 9 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 492 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.
As of 24:00 on April 15, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 5,474 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 5,255 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 219 confirmed cases (including 4 cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases.
As of 24:00 on April 15, the National Health Commission had received reports of 90,468 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 85,533 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 299 confirmed cases (including 5 cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases. 1,001,478 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 10,498 were still under medical observation.
On April 15, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 31 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 12 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 11 imported cases) and no asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on April 15, 319 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 300 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on April 15, 12,735 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 11,618 in Hong Kong (209 had died and 11,246 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 49 in Macao (48 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 1,068 in Taiwan (11 had died and 1,031 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
