China kicked off an expressway network-themed event on Tuesday in celebration of the Party's 100th anniversary.

BAIC ORV is offering a fleet of its BJ40 and BJ80 models that will enable participants to experience the great changes in the three-month journey.

From zero to 160,000 kilometers, China has built the world's largest expressway network in less than the past four decades.

The network has embraced 99 percent of cities and regions whose urban population exceeds 200,000.

The roads reach remote regions that were once hard to access, and the difficult terrain conditions including deserts and grasslands have required capable off-roaders, said executives at BAIC ORV.

It is not the first time that BAIC ORV has appeared on important state occasions.

Its models including the BJ212 have played their roles in military parades.

The BJ80 undertook its mission in Mount Qomolangma's exploration and Mars probe-related tasks.

The BJ40 was chosen as the official vehicle of China's lunar exploration project.
