April 5: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On April 4, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 32 new cases of confirmed infections (17 imported cases, 4 in Shaanxi province, 3 in Shanghai municipality, 3 in Sichuan province, 2 in Jiangsu province, 1 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 1 in Zhejiang province and 1 in Fujian province; 15 indigenous cases in Yunnan province), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 9 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 240 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.

As of 24:00 on April 4, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 5,352 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 5,163 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 189 confirmed cases (including 2 cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on April 4, the National Health Commission had received reports of 90,305 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 85,431 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 238 confirmed cases (including 2 cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases. 993,361 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 7,430 were still under medical observation.

On April 4, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 18 new asymptomatic cases (13 imported cases, and 5 indigenous cases in Yunnan). 10 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and 3 (imported cases) became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on April 4, 304 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 267 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on April 4, 12,603 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 11,508 in Hong Kong (205 had died and 11,139 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 48 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 1,047 in Taiwan (10 had died and 997 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
