April 4: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On April 3, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 21 new cases of confirmed infections (11 imported cases, 6 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Guangdong province, 1 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Tianjin municipality and 1 in Fujian province; 10 indigenous cases in Yunnan province), 2 new cases of suspected infections (both were imported cases in Shanghai), and no deaths. 9 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 417 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.
As of 24:00 on April 3, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 5,335 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 5,154 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 181 confirmed cases (including 2 cases in serious condition) and 3 suspected cases.
As of 24:00 on April 3, the National Health Commission had received reports of 90,273 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 85,422 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 215 confirmed cases (including 2 cases in serious condition) and 3 suspected cases. 992,439 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 6,749 were still under medical observation.
On April 3, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 18 new asymptomatic cases (17 imported cases, and 1 indigenous case in Yunnan). 15 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and 4 cases became confirmed cases (including 1 imported case). As of 24:00 on April 3, 299 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 267 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on April 3, 12,594 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 11,501 in Hong Kong (205 had died and 11,133 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 48 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 1,045 in Taiwan (10 had died and 992 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
