A virtual tour of the Shanxi Museum's brilliant display of tomb murals is now available. Shanxi was a melting pot of different nationalities and a stage of cultural convergence during the Northern and Southern dynasties (420-589).

The historical tomb murals collected in the Shanxi Museum, especially those from the Northern Dynasty (386-581), are among the most valuable and important. They are mainly from Lou Rui’s Tomb in Taiyuan city, the Jiuyuangang tomb in Xinzhou city and the Shuiquanliang tomb in Shuozhou city, and present truly fine art from more than a thousand years ago. On this tour you can appreciate the flying immortals, the strange beasts, the galloping horses, the huge arrays and the intrepid warriors depicted on the tomb walls just by clicking your mouse.
