Pre-sales for GAC's Aion Y started on Monday with prices beginning at 105,900 yuan ($16,118). The Aion Y comes in five pure-electric variants with ranges of 410, 500 and 600 kilometers.
The Aion Y is the first model equipped with GAC Aion’s battery technology which can avoid catching fire during the nail penetration testing, according to the company.
Targeted at young consumers, the model is equipped with a number of intelligent features, such as smartphone-enabled door unlocking and autonomous parking.
According to the Xiao Yong deputy manager of GAC Aion, the model aims to become the best seller in its segment and compete with same-price-level fuel vehicles.
