A report from Shanghai SAIC Mobility Technology and Service Co shows that residents living in the Yangtze River Delta stayed put during the Spring Festival holiday.

The report, released on Monday, is based on mobility statistics in 17 cities in the region, including Shanghai, Hangzhou in Zhejiang province and Nanjing in Jiangsu province, from January 1 to February 28.

Statistics from SAIC Mobility, a car-hailing and rental company, show that the orders at train stations and airports during the period remained basically stable compared with ordinary days.

That means that most people chose to stay put instead of traveling back to their home, as they usually did in previous years.

Compared with those in other cities, Shanghai residents made more trips, according to the report.

And Hangzhou attracted most visitors within the region, especially from Shanghai, Nanjing in Jiangsu province and Ningbo in Zhejiang province and the West Lake in Hangzhou was the most popular place of interest.

Another interesting finding is that people tended to stay late during the holiday.

Hangzhou topped the list again by having 19.07 percent of orders placed from 21:00 to 02:00.

It was followed by Shanghai and Nanjing, accounting for 17.85 percent and 16.73 percent respectively.

Many car-hailing vehicle drivers worked throughout the holiday.

Those in Ningbo, Zhejiang province, were most diligent, of whom 73.7 percent worked during the Spring Festival. Shanghai drivers came second, 72.62 percent, and Suzhou in Jiangsu province followed by 65.40 percent.
