Feb 3: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Feb 2, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 25 new cases of confirmed infections (10 imported cases, 4 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Guangdong province, 2 in Sichuan province, 1 in Jiangsu province and 1 in Shaanxi province; 15 indigenous cases, 8 in Jilin province, 6 in Heilongjiang province and 1 in Hebei province), 1 new case of suspected infections (an imported case in Shanghai), and no deaths. 91 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 1,675 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 6.

As of 24:00 on Feb 2, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 4,745 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 4,433 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 312 confirmed cases (including 5 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case.

As of 24:00 on Feb 2, the National Health Commission had received reports of 89,619 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 83,467 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,516 confirmed cases (including 66 cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases. 968,131 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 36,360 were still under medical observation.

On Feb 2, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 12 new asymptomatic cases (including 7 imported cases). 45 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 13 imported cases) and 10 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 2 imported cases). As of 24:00 on Feb 2, 829 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 279 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Feb 2, 11,473 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 10,511 in Hong Kong (184 had died and 9,549 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 47 in Macao (46 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 915 in Taiwan (8 had died and 832 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
