Jan 28: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Jan 27, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 54 new cases of confirmed infections (13 imported cases, 7 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Shanxi province, 1 in Jiangsu province, 1 in Guangdong province and 1 in Sichuan province; 41 indigenous cases, 28 in Heilongjiang province, 9 in Jilin province, 3 in Hebei province and 1 in Shaanxi province), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 96 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 1,735 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 6.
As of 24:00 on Jan 27, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 4,657 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 4,363 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 294 confirmed cases (including 3 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case.
As of 24:00 on Jan 27, the National Health Commission had received reports of 89,326 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 82,870 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,820 confirmed cases (including 105 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case. 962,317 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 39,429 were still under medical observation.
On Jan 27, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 28 new asymptomatic cases (including 9 imported cases). 20 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 5 imported cases) and 11 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 4 imported cases). As of 24:00 on Jan 27, 988 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 288 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on Jan 27, 11,222 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 10,282 in Hong Kong (175 had died and 9,162 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 47 in Macao (46 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 893 in Taiwan (7 had died and 803 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
