Jan 19: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Jan 18, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 118 new cases of confirmed infections (12 imported cases, 4 in Shanghai municipality, 3 in Zhejiang province, 3 in Guangdong province, 1 in Shanxi province and 1 in Shaanxi province; 106 indigenous cases, 43 in Jilin province, 35 in Hebei province, 27 in Heilongjiang province and 1 in Beijing municipality), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 32 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 1,286 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases increased by 18.

As of 24:00 on Jan 18, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 4,530 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 4,256 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 274 confirmed cases (including 2 cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Jan 18, the National Health Commission had received reports of 88,454 confirmed cases and 4,635 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 82,432 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,387 confirmed cases (including 61 cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases. 942,449 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 35,325 were still under medical observation.

On Jan 18, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 91 new asymptomatic cases (including 11 imported cases). 8 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 5 imported cases) and 60 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 1 imported case). As of 24:00 on Jan 18, 811 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 259 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Jan 18, 10,572 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 9,664 in Hong Kong (163 had died and 8,786 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 46 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 862 in Taiwan (7 had died and 756 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
