Jan 16: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Jan 15, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 130 new cases of confirmed infections (15 imported cases, 7 in Shanghai municipality, 3 in Tianjin municipality, 2 in Sichuan province, 1 in Hunan province, 1 in Chongqing municipality and 1 in Shaanxi province; 115 indigenous cases, 90 in Hebei province, 23 in Heilongjiang province and 2 in Beijing municipality), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 18 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 1,053 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases increased by 12.
As of 24:00 on Jan 15, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 4,489 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 4,208 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 281 confirmed cases (including 2 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case.
As of 24:00 on Jan 15, the National Health Commission had received reports of 88,118 confirmed cases and 4,635 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 82,370 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,113 confirmed cases (including 38 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case. 936,427 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 33,409 were still under medical observation.
On Jan 15, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 79 new asymptomatic cases (including 24 imported cases). 7 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 4 imported cases) and 20 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 3 imported cases). As of 24:00 on Jan 15, 670 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 262 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on Jan 15, 10,341 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 9,452 in Hong Kong (161 had died and 8,684 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 46 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 843 in Taiwan (7 had died and 741 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
