On Dec 31, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 19 new cases of confirmed infections (10 imported cases, 5 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Guangdong province, 1 in Fujian province, 1 in Yunnan province and 1 in Shaanxi province; 9 indigenous cases, 5 in Beijing municipality and 4 in Liaoning province), 1 new case of suspected infections (an imported case in Shanghai), and no deaths. 17 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 1,009 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases increased by 3.
As of 24:00 on Dec 31, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 4,273 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 4,006 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 267 confirmed cases (including 3 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case.
As of 24:00 on Dec 31, the National Health Commission had received reports of 87,071 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 82,067 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 370 confirmed cases (including 9 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case. 905,493 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 13,584 were still under medical observation.
On Dec 31, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 19 new asymptomatic cases (including 16 imported cases). 6 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 5 imported cases) and 1 (indigenous case) became a confirmed case. As of 24:00 on Dec 31, 279 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 227 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on Dec 31, 9,691 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 8,846 in Hong Kong (148 had died and 7,813 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 46 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 799 in Taiwan (7 had died and 671 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
