A 45-day, 12,330-km journey of a Hongqi E-HS9 fleet culminated on Dec 30, with a deal between Hongqi and Dunhuang Academy inked in Dunhuang, Northwest China's Gansu province.

The two sides said they will conduct comprehensive cooperation in an effort to undertake the mission of passing on the traditional Chinese heritage and showcasing the charm of the premium Chinese brand.

Dunhuang, as a link along the ancient Silk Road, has a crucial position in China's traditional culture. And the Mogao Grottoes and their murals have made the name well known globally.

Hongqi, established in 1958, is the first premium carmaker in China, having produced limousines for state leaders and senior officials.

The two said that they will make most of their respective advantages in brand building and partner in such aspects including art, education and technology.

The journey started in November, from Changchun, capital of Jilin province, and reached Bohao, Hainan province, for the launch of the E-HS9. It then continued westward all the way to Dunhuang.

The electric model features the brand’s family design language and cutting-edge technologies, including the Level 4 autonomous driving functions.

Hongqi, the premium arm of China's FAW Group, finished this year's sales target of ahead of schedule, selling 200,000 vehicles with one week left for the year 2020.

The brand finished its production goal of 200,000 vehicles even earlier this month.

Hongqi sales this year went up 100 percent from 2019, which the brand said is another milestone in the history of the brand's development.
