Dec 31: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Dec 30, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 25 new cases of confirmed infections (16 imported cases, 6 in Shanghai municipality, 3 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 3 in Guangdong province, 2 in Sichuan province, 1 in Fujian province and 1 in Shaanxi province; 9 indigenous cases, 5 in Liaoning province, 2 in Beijing municipality and 2 in Heilongjiang province), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 13 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 205 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.
As of 24:00 on Dec 30, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 4,263 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 3,990 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 273 confirmed cases (including 3 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases.
As of 24:00 on Dec 30, the National Health Commission had received reports of 87,052 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 82,050 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 368 confirmed cases (including 6 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 904,515 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 13,615 were still under medical observation.
On Dec 30, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 8 new asymptomatic cases (including 4 imported cases). 5 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 4 imported cases) and 5 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 3 imported cases). As of 24:00 on Dec 30, 267 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 216 imported cases). As of 24:00 on Dec 30, 9,621 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 8,778 in Hong Kong (147 had died and 7,722 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 46 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 797 in Taiwan (7 had died and 666 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
