Hongqi, the premium arm of China's FAW Group, finished this year's sales target of ahead of schedule, selling 200,000 vehicles with one week left for the year 2020.

The brand finished its production goal of 200,000 vehicles even earlier this month.

Hongqi sales this year went up 100 percent from 2019, which the brand said is another milestone in the history of the brand's development.

Over 30,000 were sold in 2018, the year in which a brand new strategy was released for the brand.

The figure tripled in 2019 to exceed 100,000, despite the overall downturn of the overall vehicle market in China.

The results were thanks to the growing lineup. In August, the brand's flagship gasoline model H9 was launched, and the electric E-HS9 followed four months later.

The electric model features the brand’s family design language and cutting-edge technologies, including the Level 4 autonomous driving functions.

FAW Chairman Xu Liuping said Hongqi will step up efforts to shift towards new energy vehicles and smart vehicles to get established in the global premium vehicle segment.

The H5 sedan and the HS5 SUV have been important contributing forces of the brand's momentum that has continued so far.

The all-new H5 hit the market in July, with accumulated deliveries totaling 100,000. The HS5, Hongqi's B-class SUV, now has a monthly sales of around 10,000.

Hongqi's C-class SUV, the HS7, has attracted a following since its launch in late August 2020.

The brand is offering tailor-made vehicles as well to meet the diverse demands of its elite customers.
