Dec 25: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Dec 24, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 14 new cases of confirmed infections (7 imported cases, 4 in Shanghai municipality, 1 in Liaoning province, 1 in Guangdong province and 1 in Sichuan province; 7 indigenous cases in Liaoning), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 9 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 879 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.
As of 24:00 on Dec 24, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 4,181 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 3,909 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 272 confirmed cases (including 5 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases.
As of 24:00 on Dec 24, the National Health Commission had received reports of 86,913 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 81,959 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 320 confirmed cases (including 6 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 897,690 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 9,890 were still under medical observation.
On Dec 24, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 17 new asymptomatic cases (including 15 imported cases). 9 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 7 imported cases) and 1 (indigenous case) became a confirmed case. As of 24:00 on Dec 24, 236 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 195 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on Dec 24, 9,246 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 8,424 in Hong Kong (135 had died and 7,203 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 46 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 776 in Taiwan (7 had died and 635 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
