The 10th Competition of Reliable Commercial Vehicle Engine was held last week in Beijing, which is expected to be a driving force of the momentum of China's fast-growing commercial vehicle segment.

The segment went through an unusual journey of ups and downs this year, but it has recovered to see a new high, said Liu Jianlin, chairman of China Energy and Automobile Media Group.

Sales of trucks and buses are expected to total 5 million in China this year, according to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.

The competition, now in the 10th year, saw competitive entries, all of which were in line with China's State VI emission standards.

The WP 13 from Weichai won the accolade of the reliable heavy-duty vehicle engine; the CA6DH from FAW Jiefang, the reliable medium-duty vehicle engine; and the Greenjet 2.2 CTI from JAC Motors, the reliable light-duty vehicle engine.

Besides, the WP 10.5H from Weichai won the golden prize; Dongfeng's DDi11 won the prize of innovation, and the 12E from SAIC and the Cursor 11 from SAIC Fiat Hongyan were rated as the recommended engines.

Since its establishment in 2011, the jury of the competition has reviewed dozens of engines.

This year, 26 engines for heavy-duty vehicles, 18 engines for light-duty vehicles, and 10 for new energy vehicles were selected out of them as best of the best.
