SAIC Maxus launches T70 pickup

SAIC Maxus launched its T70 pickup on Monday, starting the Chinese carmaker’s offensive into the increasingly popular segment.

The pickup, available in four variants including an electric one, is priced from 89,800 yuan to 299,800 yuan. SAIC Maxus said the T70 is the first pickup in China that meets the State VI emission standards.

The electric one has a driving range of 535 kilometers on one charge, and its electric motor has a maximum output of 130 kW and a top torque of 310 Nm.

SAIC Maxus launched its first pickup in 2017. Over the past few years, its models have gained in popularity in China and overseas.

In November, its pickup sales in China totaled 1037, up 39.95 percent from the same month last year. In overseas markets, its sales in the month reached 3425, up 188.54 percent year-on-year.

In the first 11 months, its sales totaled 10,839 in overseas markets, up 11.23 percent from the same period last year.
