Hongqi launches full-size electric SUV

FAW Group’s premium brand Hongqi launched its full-size electric SUV the E-HS9 on Friday in Boao, Hainan province.

The model, available in four variants priced from 509,800 yuan to 729,800 yuan, features the brand’s family design language and cutting-edge technologies, including the Level 4 autonomous driving functions.

Hongqi said it offers customers home charging pillars in 317 cities, and it has already 214,000 pillars installed for its customers.

Hongqi said it will sell the model in European markets as well, but it did not offer details about when and where it will be available.

FAW Chairman Xu Liuping said Hongqi will step up efforts to shift towards new energy vehicles and smart vehicles to get established in the global premium vehicle segment.

In the first 11 months of the year, FAW sold 178,000 Hongqi-branded models in the country, up 102 percent from the same period last year.
