Chinese-Japanese joint venture GAC Honda unveiled its first electric sedan at the ongoing Guangzhou auto show, as part of its efforts to speed up the electrification strategy.
The sedan, called EA6, is built on GAC Motor's electric car-only platform. It is expected to become another driving force of the joint venture's new energy vehicle sales.
GAC Honda launched the VE-1 SUV, which is built on the GEP platform as well, earlier this year.
The carmaker's hybrid models are gaining momentum as well. Following the hybrid Accord and Odyssey, GAC Honda launched the hybrids versions of the Breeze SUV and the Crider sedan.
It now has the biggest number of hybrid models among carmakers in the country. Its hybrid models' combined sales exceeded 95,000 in the first 10 months this year, bringing their accumulated sales to exceed 200,000.
GAC Honda said it will introduce more Honda's latest technologies in terms of connectivity and autonomous driving into China-made models, and further enhance its after-sales services in the country.
JD Power surveys show that GAC Honda was among the top three in terms of both sales satisfaction and after-sales satisfaction this year.
Established in 1998, the carmaker has sold over 8 million vehicles in China.
