Chinese carmaker SAIC Maxus is to launch dozens of new energy vehicles in five years, and such vehicles are expected to account for at least 30 percent of its sales in 2025.

The carmaker released the goal on Nov 20, the opening day of the ongoing Guangzhou auto show.

SAIC Maxus said the goal would make it to realize its ambition of becoming the Chinese brand that has the most comprehensive lineup of new energy vehicles and that has the largest market share in overseas NEV markets.

It has launched a number of NEV models in the market. At the Guangzhou auto show, it is showcasing the fuel cell MPV EUNIQ 7, the EUNIQ 6 SUV, EUNIQ 5 MPV, EV 90, EV 30 as well as the electric pickup concept.

The EUNIQ 6 and the EUNIQ 5 are available in both electric and hybrid editions.

SAIC Maxus said its first electric model, the EV 80 light bus, was launched six years ago and won accolades in both China and overseas commercial vehicle segment.

The EUNIQ series were launched in 2019. The electric EUNIQ 6 SUV has a range of 510 kilometers and features Level 2.5 autonomous driving functions, while the EUNIQ 5 MPV is the first Chinese-brand mid-sized MPV in the European market.

The carmaker said it has made progress in fuel cell vehicles as well. Its FCV80 light bus hit the market in 2017, which was followed by the EUNIQ 7 that has driving range of 605 kilometers.
